Long Acres Alpaca Farm
Long Acres Alpaca Farm is located in southcentral PA, twenty minutes from I-81 and I-70. We purchased our 130 acre farm in 2002. It is set against the foothills of the Allegheny Mountain, providing a breathtaking vista to showcase our huacaya alpacas. In 2005, we purchased our first alpacas, several bred females and one male cria who would later become our "ambassador alpaca." The following year saw our purchase of our first Champion Herdsire. In 2007, we enjoyed our first group of crias that were the result of our breeding decisions. We began showing those crias the following year and were successful at our first "home grown" Champion. Breeding Best Quality Females to Elite Males came about out of our desire to strive for the highest quality alpacas in terms of show winnings and fleece analysis. Lots of activities going on both at our farm and on the road. Our alpaca clothing and gift shop is open Thursday through Sunday, 10AM to 4PM, except holidays. Other times by chance or by appointment. We have some great gift ideas for holiday shopping, such as classic suits, separates and coats for women, sweaters and active wear for both women and men, socks, scarves, gloves, yarns, rovings, and battings, and custom hand knitted sweaters, hats and gloves for everyone on your shopping list!
And as you shop, you can watch our herd from either the comfort of the viewing room in the shop or get up close and personal with one in the field. And be warned, some of our alpacas like to venture into the clothing shop and peek in the mirror!!! We generally average around 100 alpacas, in every color, so there's lots to see. Spring and Fall are our primary birthing times and we usually birth 15 a season. You just might see one born when you visit!
